First city success for New York Celebrity

This mare is starting to build a very tasty race record since joining the stable. She headed to Caulfield after an unsuccessful first prep with another trainer where a bout of sickness impeded her progress.Fast forward to today and she has now raced 12 times with us for 4 wins culminating in Friday nights win at the Valley. She is the type of horse that the Boss excels with, she is a touch fragile and a difficult ride. She has had to be managed very carefully, our track riders have taken her race manners back to basics and this prep she is starting to shine. At the races on Friday she looked magnificent and the confidence was high amongst the staff and equally with Jamie Mott.He has ridden her on many occasions and was knocked over by how well she looked in the mounting yard.We gambled that most of the field would claim and in turn that the pace would fierce. All Jamie had to was sit off them and produce her over the last 50metres, those were the instructions, the ride that followed was plain brilliant. My admiration for Mr Mott is well documented,he is a strong and highly skilled horseman who would have been amongst the elite if God had made him a few inches shorter. He sat, waited, weaved and urged her to victory, the over zealous  post race celebration was the joy of a plan coming together. The mare is owned by a great mate and in turn by a great buddy of his.He puts his money where his rather capable legal mouth is both with training fees and on the punt.Away on business he watched from a pub in Brisbane, shouted the bar after the race and the TAB had to write him a cheque. This was on top of the bet I had on track for him which to me felt a rather substantial investment. It was pretty much a perfect night, it could have been Nirvana if Hot Ruby had received a ride of the quality of my mate Motty, she was tanking on the home turn but was never given a crack at them in the home straight. Two winners on the day and the stable continue to bat way above it's weight. We like it like that, love to get the cast offs from other stables and turn them around,it suits our characters, we just need more like NYC.
