Harry The Helmet breaks his maiden

Oct 09, 2017

Pretty uninspiring stable nickname I know but it suits this big dumb bugger down to the ground. He acts and behaves like a complete delinquent and still his race manners are nowhere near where they should be.We wanted to try and give him an easy kill hence the trip to Gunbower to get the maiden won and out the way.He took the kill element a fair bit to literally as he spent a deal of the race trying to pick fights in the run and knocking over horses in the home straight. He won a share cosily on the line but the only word to describe the win would be ugly. That said it's also the type of run that says back me next time.Rated only 57 after the win he can kick off his ratings career in 58 grade and over staying trips he should be a force.Add a gear change with maybe blinkers going on and the ultimate gear change of J Mott on his back and I reckon he is a sneaky to win next start. No knock on young Nathan Punch, time and again he gets the job done for the stable but this horse has the Mott Man written all over him, wait until he rides and follow him in.

The stables two other runners ran with credit but not winners cheques.A second and a fourth in the Cup were a decent return from the day.By all accounts Harry was a goose the whole way home, this morning he was bucking and kicking his brands off suggesting that the Helmet may be set for a busy few weeks at the races.
