Tavisocks runs her little socks off to win at Ararat

Feb 09, 2018

Small in stature and big in heart was the mantra from a wise old Pommie trainer that trained for me 20 years ago.He reckoned that was always a lethal combo, only problem with this is when selecting yearlings it's very hard to see the size of the heart.Little Tavisocks was a $27,500 yearling purchase from Karaka, the price was testament to the fact that she was pretty small. She has a ripping staying pedigree and on only her third ever start she landed the chocolates yesterday at Ararat.Sadly wearing he club colours she pounced late under a gun Daniel Moor drive and was strong through the line. The reason for the club silks was Grand Syndicates the winning connections raced two in the field.Real optimism that their other runner High Sierra will be winning soon and both these girls look to have bright staying futures. As ever Pete and Sam are doing a fantastic job at Grand,Luke selected the winner and Pete purchased the fourth so kudos to both guys here.Over the weekend this syndicate have great chances with Gilchrist and their star mare Khutulun , both present as winning chances in town. That's some feat for two horses that combined purchase price comes in under $40,000 and that have won over $550,000 between them.Best of luck to all our runners over the weekend and look for the black and gold out in front.
