Great to see Gilly back to his battling best

Mar 03, 2018

Close but not close enough Friday night as Gilly ran a gallant second in the Stayers final at the Valley.Luke had set him for the race since this gentle giant of a horse returned to full work.He has been on the comeback since a tendon injury and this race was his Grand Final. All his runs were building to a crack at this race and on the home turn the fairy tail just looked like it was going to have a happy ending. The winner was however getting the softest of runs and when the run came on the rail we were cooked. He picked up $20,000 plus of prize money and gave his loyal hordes of owners a fantastic night out.He got a bigger cheer than the winner and continued Grand Syndicates cracking run with the stable. On this run he should be winning more races but for now we will take the joy of seeing him back to his best and racing strongly.
