Hunboshi Storms Home For The Win At Cranbourne

Aug 26, 2018

Hunboshi scored the second win of her career this afternoon at Cranbourne, with a barnstorming finish to get up in the last stride.

Jye McNeil had her settled in the second half of the field early. She tracked into the race strongly on the home turn and Jye was able to angle her into the clear when they straightened up. It took her a couple of strides to balance up, however once she got into stride, she showed a brilliant turn of foot at the end of the 1600m event.

Hunboshi is a lightly raced mare, having only her 9th start today. Being by New Zealand stallion, Handsome Ransom, her best looks to be ahead of her. Her stablemate and half brother, Hunamosa, is a metropolitan winner, and she looks to have the scope to follow in his foot steps.

Today’s win was a super result for her owners, particularly Marg & Martin Carter, who bred and race the progressive mare.
