Hunboshi Brings Up Winner 500

Sep 11, 2018

Hunboshi made it back to back wins on Sunday at Sale, and in doing so, brought up Luke Oliver's 500th career winner.

The lightly raced mare was coming off a win at Cranbourne a fortnight earlier, where she got back and stormed home to get her head in front just in time. She stepped up from 1600m to 1717m and up in class from a benchmark 58 to a benchmark 64, at Sale. With an outstanding ride from Jye McNeil, Hunboshi handled the step up perfectly and always had the race in her keeping.

Hunboshi now has 3 wins from 10 starts, and her best certainly looks to be in front of her. She is still doing a few things wrong in her races, however she is continuing to improve with each start and once she puts it all together, it will be exciting to see how far she can progress.

Hunboshi is a half sister to stablemate and Moonee Valley winner, Hunamosa. Hunamosa is also raced by the same connections, while both horses are a success story for breeders and managing owners, Marg & Martin Carter. We're looking forward to meeting Hunboshi's younger sister, who will arrive in Romsey, from New Zealand soon.
